The building collapsed on Sunday, killing five persons and injuring 21. Rescuers are still searching through the debris. The cause of the collapse is unknown, but a gas explosion is a probable cause. A prosecutor's office has already launched an investigation into the disaster.
"Let me offer words of sympathy to the families of the victims," the prime minister said during a press conference on Monday.
"There are a few severely injured people, who have been hospitalised, and I hope that we will soon be able to wish them a full recovery," Morawiecki said, adding he had been in contact with the interior minister.
At the moment of the explosion, 40 residents were in the building.
Displaced residents were offered shelter and food at a nearby hotel. They have been promised financial support by the government. (PAP)
