The EC–Warsaw meeting addressed the proposed measures that Poland plans to implement in its central-eastern Mazowieckie and western Wielkopolskie provinces, which have been the most affected by the outbreak.

European Commission spokesperson Eva Hrncirova called the talks "constructive," adding that, due to Poland’s proposed actions, the EC sees no need, at least for, now—to impose any additional EU-wide measures.

Poland raised the alarm over a spike in bird flu cases in February. Now, with the EC’s approval of its prevention proposals, Warsaw will present the measures to the rest of the EU before implementing them domestically. (PAP)
