Rinkevics is on a two-day visit to Poland, after he participated in a forum of European leaders that was held in Kyiv on Monday, on the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of that country.

Following their meeting on Tuesday, Duda said that "the most important thing is to stop innocent people dying, for the Russian aggression to end, and to work out lasting peace that will ensure safety not only for Ukraine, but also other countries, including us, the eastern flank of NATO."

According to Duda, the ongoing conversations between Russia and the US, were setting the ground for future peace negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

"I hope that these will be true negotiations between Russia and Ukraine which will end Russia's aggression and be conducted with the involvement of the United States, because that is the current direction of President Donald Trump," Duda said, adding that "various proposals for Ukraine were on the table”.
