Poland's main opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS), has announced the filing of a motion to dismiss the acting education minister, calling him an "gravedigger of the Polish science."

Mariusz Blaszczak, the leader of the PiS parliamentary caucus, wrote on the X platform on Saturday that  "Dariusz Wieczorek is a gravedigger of the Polish since and the embodiment of everything negative associated with the SLD (Democratic Left Alliance - PAP) establishment of the nineteen nineties and early two thousand."

Later in the same post, the politician addressed the situation in which Wieczorek exposed a whistleblower at the University of Szczecin in Poland who spilt the alleged irregularities at the education facility.

"Disclosing whistleblower's data and lying about the case, influencing the university's autonomy, and destroying reputable research institutes comprise a portion of allegations against minister Wieczorek. The Law and Justice party will file a request on Monday for his resignation," Blaszczak wrote.

According to the Wirtualna Polska (Wp.pl) news outlet, the chairwoman of the University of Szczecin's trade union, Gabriela Fostiak, alerted the politician to the university's wrongdoings yet asked Wieczorek to keep her identity anonymous. The outlet added that after her name and surname became public, the woman was labelled a "snitch," and the university notified the prosecutor about the case.

On Friday, the minister called his move lawful, stressing that he will not resign.

Speaking of the university's irregularities, Fostiak told Wp.pl that on the one hand, the college "has a loss of PLN 25 million (EUR 5.8 mln) yet paying its authorities a fortune. Furthermore, Fostiak also signalled the unclear status of the Centre for Media Education and Interactivity.

The Szczecin University authorities rejected all allegations made by Fostiak, the Wp.pl wrote. (PAP)
