The incident in front of the Polish diplomatic mission has been condemned by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, who said it was a provocation.
According to PAP's findings, the incident took place on Easter Monday, when the embassy was closed. A group of more than ten unidentified people appeared in front of the building and set fire to the flag. Members of the diplomatic corps told PAP that the participants did not present any petition and went away after the event.
In the note, the Polish Foreign Ministry expressed indignation over "the ostentatious behaviour of the demonstrators and lack of appropriate reaction from Ukrainian security officers."
The ministry also expressed concern that "it was yet another anti-Polish incident on Ukrainian territory over the past weeks."
The Ukrainian deputy ambassador "stressed that the Ukrainian authorities have condemned the despicable act and informed (the Polish ministry) of the measures that have been taken to quickly establish the identity of the perpetrators and to punish them accordingly." (PAP)
