Austrian writer Martin Pollack Friday received a Ryszard Kapuscinski Translation Award for his translations of books by the late Polish international reporter Ryszard Kapuscinski.

The awarding took place during Warsaw celebrations of Kapuscinski'sm 86th birthday anniversary. A laudatio in Pollack's honour was delivered by poet Andrzej Kopacki, translator of his books into Polish.

The Ryszard Kapuscinski Translation Award was instituted in 2015 in two categories: a life work prize and a distinction for Kapuscinski translations into new languages. The 2015 life work laureate was Vera Verdani, who translated Kapuscinski's writings into Italian, the new language prize went to Lidia Tanuszevska for her translation of Kapuscinski's book "Imperium" (Empire) into Macedonian.

This year's new language prize went to Osman Firat Bas for his Turkish translation of Kapuscinski's "Travels with Herodotus".  (PAP)
