Poland to boost minimum wage by 16 pct from 2020
The minimum wage in Poland will be raised from the current PLN 2,250 (EUR 519) to PLN 2,600 (EUR 599) from 2020, up by 15.6 pct, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said after a government meeting on Tuesday.
At a press conference held in Lowicz, central Poland, Morawiecki also said the minimum wage will rise to PLN 3,000 (EUR 692) from 2021. This raise will amount to 15.4 percent.
At its sitting on Tuesday, the government debated a draft regulation on the minimum monthly wage and minimum hourly rate. The latter will be increased to PLN 17 (EUR 3.39) from the current PLN 14.70 (EUR 3.92), or by 15.6 percent, Family and Labour Minister Bozena Borys-Szopa said.
At an electoral convention of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party held in the eastern city of Lublin on Saturday, PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski announced that the minimum wage will go up to PLN 2,600 from 2020 and will increase to PLN 3,000 by the end of 2020, and to PLN 4,000 (EUR 922) by the end of 2023.
