Poland to investigate civil rights violations under previous gov't
A special-purpose commission will probe alleged abuse of power by the previous Law and Justice (PiS) government, Adam Bodnar, the Polish justice minister, has announced.

The commission presented on Monday will "investigate and analyse various methods of restricting constitutional freedoms," particularly for civil society organisations and activists in the years 2015-2023.
According to Bodnar, the body will review violations of the right to public assembly as well as freedom of speech, with an emphasis on the activity of public media. Legal actions launched against social justice activists will also be subject to investigation.
The commission will be established soon. It will operate for one year and produce three interim and one final report. (PAP)
