Polish team arrives in Paris for 2024 Paralympics

Polish competitors arrive in France for this year’s Paralympic Games which start in Paris on Wednesday.

The Polish team has 84 members - 41 women and 43 men, nine of them will compete with assistance, a pilot, or a guide.

Poles will take part in 15 out of 22 disciplines in total. The 22 sports include: blind football, boccia, goalball, para archery, para athletics, para badminton, para canoeing, para cycling road, para cycling track, para equestrian, para judo, para powerlifting, para rowing, para swimming, para table tennis, para taekwondo, para triathlon, shooting para sport, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair rugby, and wheelchair tennis.

The Poles will not take part in blind football, goalball, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis, judo and seated volleyball. They will make their debuts in boccia and taekwondo.

"Our Paralympians are arriving in Paris. We are staying in one building with the representatives of Georgia, Indonesia and Japan. No one is complaining about the conditions," the national team's press attaché, editor Michal Pol, told PAP on Tuesday.

In the previous Paralympic Games in Tokyo three years ago, Poles won 24 medals, seven gold, six silver and 11 bronze, placing Poland 17th on the final standings. (PAP)
