Small step in right direction, Poland says of Trump-Putin talks
Tuesday's talks between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, during which Putin agreed to a limited ceasefire, is "a very small" step, but "in the right direction," the Polish defence minister has said.

Trump held a lengthy conversation with Putin on Tuesday, but failed to secure the Russian leader's agreement to a full ceasefire, which Kyiv had already approved in talks with Washington. Instead, Putin suggested an end to attacks on energy infrastructure lasting 30 days.
Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said at a press conference on Wednesday that it is "a step in the right direction, if it brings us closer to peace, a very small one, but in the right direction."
"We're in a much better place now than on the evening of March 1 (one day after the disastrous meeting between Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky with Trump and US Vice-President JD Vance at the White House - PAP), because the United States and Ukraine are presenting a dilemma to Russia..."
The Kremlin said in a statement issued after the talks with Trump that Russia demanded full suspension of Western military and intelligence aid to Ukraine. Trump said on Fox News that this condition had not been mentioned during his conversation with Putin. (PAP)
