"We are prolonging the application of the zero VAT rate on food," Magdalena Rzeczkowska was quoted in a finance ministry's statement on Saturday.
"As it is today, this rate will cover basic foodstuffs, such as fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy or grain products," she added.
In late October, Mateusz Morawiecki, the prime minister, announced plans to keep the rate at zero. He estimated the cost to be borne by the state budget at "some PLN 8 billion (EUR 1.72 bln), or above PLN 8 billion." (PAP)
