Poland supports the economic and financial priorities of Germany's EU presidency, Polish Finance Minister Tadeusz Koscinski said after an informal meeting of the Ecofin Council, the EU's economy and finance ministers, on Friday.
It was the first meeting of Europe's economy and finance ministers since Germany took over the six-month chairmanship of the bloc.
At an informal videoconference, the ministers familiarised themselves with the Ecofin work agenda as presented by the German finance minister.
"We attach special importance to activities in the fiscal area, including better efficiency in fighting tax evasion. In this respect, it is important to bolster administrative cooperation and that's why Poland supports the speeding up of work based on the latest proposals from the European Commission," Koscinski was quoted as saying in his ministry's press release.
Poland also wants to swiftly conclude negotiations of projects concerning VAT.
At their Friday meeting, the ministers summed up current activities undertaken in reaction to the coronavirus crisis and discussed ways of supporting the EU's economic revival.
In this respect, Poland has been constantly stressing the significance of an ambitious EU budget, the ministry wrote. (PAP)
