"2025 is a year of strategic decisions, also when it comes to investment in the energy sector," Marzena Czarnecka said in a video posted on the X platform on Wednesday. "We'll invest PLN 650 billion, including PLN 65 billion in power grid investments alone."

Commenting on the PLN 60 billion outlays in nuclear energy she said: "It's the first investment in a nuclear plant, but it's only the beginning, because we're selecting the location for a second investment."

In January, the Polish government approved a draft law detailing public support for the country's first nuclear plant.

The plant is to be built at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in northern Poland. With an electricity generation capacity of up to 3,750 MW, it is scheduled to start operating in the second half of 2030.

The total investment costs of the project are estimated to reach PLN 192 billion (EUR 45 bln). (PAP)
