Unionists also agreed to a two-year suspension of a so-called 14th wage bonus paid to miners.
The agreement, signed in the presence of Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchorzewski and deputy Energy Minister Grzegorz Tobiszowski, foresees no changes in the employment conditions of PGG-transferred KW miners besides the two-year 14th wage suspension until the introduction of a new collective employment agreement.
The new collective agreement should be introduced at latest by January 1, 2018.
The official foundation of the Polish Mining Group is scheduled on Tuesday, April 26 in the south-Polish industrial metropoly Katowice.
Minister Tchorzewski said that the agreement saved 100,000 jobs in Silesia and created a chance for the entire mining sector and the region. "The Polish Mining Group becomes a fact as of May 1," he stressed.
KW Solidarity leader Boguslaw Hutek described the agreement as a very difficult compromise and stressed it was not a success but a sign of responsibility for over 30,000 KW employees. (PAP)
