Turnout in Poland's presidential election at 24.08 pct by noon

Voter turnout in the Sunday presidential election amounted to 24.08 percent by noon, the State Electoral Commission announced during a press conference at 1:30 pm.

Voting in Poland's presidential election began in Poland at 7:00 a.m. Polling stations will close at 9:00 p.m. 

The number of Poles eligible to vote on Sunday amounts to 29,526,533 people.

"By noon, 7,109,803 people or 24.08 percent of those eligible to vote received ballot cards," PKW head Sylwester Marciniak said.

Voter turnout during the presidential election held over five years ago, on May 10, 2015, amounted to 14.61 percent by noon.

The State Electoral Commission (PKW) will hold two more press conferences later on Sunday. Its third conference of the day is planned at 6:30 p.m., and the fourth at 10:00 p.m., after the polling stations close. (PAP)
