After a 10-day search the armed forces had found no evidence of the unmanned aerial vehicle that had entered Polish airspace on August 26, the spokeswoman for the Armed Forces Operational Command (DORSZ) has reported.

The unmanned flying object entered Polish territory and vanished from the radar in the Tyszowice district, eastern Poland.

"The search across the designated territory ended on Wednesday evening. No object was found, and the command will issue a statement shortly," Major Ewa Zlotnicka told PAP on Thursday.

Throughout the last ten days, the soldiers from the Territorial Defence Forces, cavalry subdivisions, and an unmanned aerial vehicle scoured a 200 square kilometre area close to the Polish border.

The territory was thoroughly searched by helicopters and members of the Polish Hunting Association.

Early in the morning of August 26, Russia launched a massive air attack on Ukraine, primarily targeting its energy infrastructure, including in regions bordering Poland.

General Maciej Klisz from DORSZ told a briefing that at least three radar stations confirmed the entry of an object into Polish airspace at 6.43 am. However, after flying for approximately 25 kilometres over Poland, it disappeared from the radar.

He added that the object was probably an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Since the outset of the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, Russian missiles have breached Polish airspace numerous times. In November 2022, a Russian missile killed two people in the village of Przewodow, eastern Poland. In December 2022, a Russian Ch-55  missile landed in a forest near Bydgoszcz, the news of finding its debris was confirmed in April 2023. Also, several missiles and drones have flown into Poland's airspace but left Polish territory shortly after without hitting the ground or detonating. (PAP)
