The former ruling socially-conservative party Law and Justice (PiS), now in opposition, has overtaken the Civic Coalition (KO), Poland's centrist leader in the tripartite coalition government, a recent poll has shown.

Tuesday marks one year since the last parliamentary elections when the then Poland's democratic opposition, including KO, took power away from PiS.

If parliamentary elections were held this coming Sunday, 31.3 percent of the respondents would vote for PiS while 30.7 percent would back KO, according to an IBRIS  poll for the Polsat broadcaster published on Tuesday.

The far-right Confederation placed third and was favoured by 9.8 percent of voters.

The two other parties forming the ruling coalition came fourth and fifth: the centre-right Third Way on 9.3 percent and the Left on 7.3 percent.

IBRIS ran the survey on a sample of 1,000 adult Poles from October 11 to 14, 2024. (PAP)\
