The National Museum in Szczecin's Dialogue Centre Upheavals won the World Building of the Year 2016 award at the World Architecture Festival, the Polish museum reported on Saturday.

The building's design by Robert Konieczny of KWK Promes is devoted to the contemporary history of Western Pomerania, the main focus of the Centre.

The Berlin competition's international jury chaired by architect David Chipperfield stressed in the verdict that the Dialogue Centre Upheavals enriches the city and city life.

The Szczecin museum's branch was selected from 16 other projects and also won in the culture category. In July 2016, the building also won the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2016. (PAP)
