The City is Ours Association is encouraging foreigners living in Warsaw to register and vote in the coming local elections. All EU citizens are entitled to vote in the district they live in.

In order to vote, it is necessary to register on the electoral roll. The rules for submitting an application are explained in detail on the Ministry of Digital Affairs website - obywatel.gov.pl.

The City is Ours Association recognises that the knowledge is not widespread and has decided to promote it through the website voteinwarsaw.eu.

"We launched a site which helps EU citizens living in Warsaw to generate the application to register on the electoral roll," Jan Mencwel, commissioner of the electoral committee of The City is Ours - Urban Movements, told a press briefing outside the Praga-Północ local authority office.

Mencwel underscored that it is very well developed as it ensures citizens of other EU member states the opportunity to vote for their own representatives. "We believe that the city is for everybody," he stressed. "It should be open to people from other countries and we didn't notice anybody promoting it, and maybe many people don't know that such a possibility exists," he said. (PAP)
