EUR 23.4 bln on rail investments in coming decade - Polish PM

Inaugurating the 1st Railway Development Congress in Warsaw on Wednesday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki declared that PLN 100 billion (EUR 23.4 billion) will be spent on railway investments in Poland in the coming 10 to 12 years.

The prime minister said that the amount "will be even bigger if taking into account spending on the planned Central Transportation Port."

PM Morawiecki also underlined that over its first three years in office, the Law and Justice government has modernised 2,500 kilometres of railway lines.

He also stressed that his government's strategy was "to rebuild road transport and to logically unite it with railway transport, which is being rebuilt now."

"There are places in Poland which have neither road connections nor railway ones," he emphasised, adding that the point was to change this situation. (PAP)
