PM Mateusz Morawiecki on Thursday appealed to Poles to rely on government information on the spread of the coronavirus. Morawiecki also denied rumours that whole cities will be closed off as a safeguard against the disease.

"There are no plans to close down shops or whole cities, this is absolutely fake news. All our present undertakings are aimed to combat the coronavirus. Most important are responsibility and prevention, and quarantining where necessary," Morawiecki said in a statement on Facebook.

Morawiecki said he had heard many rumours about closing down shops and cities, and assured that there were no such plans. He added that information seekers should resort to official government websites and social media channels. (PAP)
