"Today, during a pandemic, we feel the strength of the national community, are proud of the attitude of our compatriots who organise help for those in need amid the fight against the epidemic," Czaputowicz said.
He praised the "great dedication" of Polish doctors and nurses working in hospitals around the world.
Czaputowicz also said that the Polish foreign ministry supports the Polish community abroad under the 'Polonia4Neighbors' campaign which, "shows that Poles are sensitive and dedicated neighbours."
According to the foreign ministry, around 20 million Polish people live outside the country. The largest Polish diaspora lives in the United States, where in 2012 Polish origin was declared by over 9.6 million people.
The Day of the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad was established by the Sejm, lower house, in 2002. (PAP)
