One of the leading office developers on the Polish market has started to introduce “state-of-the-art technology solutions” to its buildings in Poland to help them adapt to the pandemic environment.
Ghelamco, responsible for high-profile projects such as the Warsaw Spire, will equip its buildings, according to a press release, with technology that will “allow them immediately to switch to so-called pandemic mode”, if need be.
“Today safety has become a top priority when choosing an office building,” said Jeroen van der Toolen, managing director for Central and Eastern Europe at Ghelamco. “We have rapidly responded to the new market need, which is to protect office tenants and their employees against the coronavirus and its impact. Together with our partners we have developed a whole suite of state-of-the-art technology solutions which are already being implemented in Ghelamco’s latest office projects: The Warsaw HUB and Warsaw UNIT.”
With the assistance of scientists from the Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering of Warsaw University of Technology the company has come up with a series of solutions to help keep staff safe.
In pandemic mode, for example, the air conditioning systems will only use fresh air, to avoid circulating contaminated air.
In The Warsaw HUB and Warsaw UNIT UV lamps will be installed: in lifts (the lamps will be activated in the cabin in a stand-by mode) and in air conditioning systems. This will ensure air disinfection as UV radiation is biocidal and quickly and effectively kills microorganisms and viruses.
Other steps include a contactless entry system for staff and guests. (PAP)
