Polish President Andrzej Duda extended his best wishes to children on International Children's Day on Monday.

"A holiday for all children is being observed today. I wish all your dreams come true and I wish you much joy, my young compatriots" President Duda wrote on Twitter.

We wish all children all the best on Children's Day," PM Mateusz Morawiecki wrote on Twitter.

International Children's Day has been observed in Poland since 1952. It is not celebrated on the same day in all countries. The UN celebrates World Children's Day on November 20 to commemorate the adoption on that day of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.

Owing to ongoing epidemic restrictions, this year's Children's Day celebrations were held online. Among others, leading politicians read children's poetry and stories, their performances are accessible on the government website. (PAP)
