The Centre will open its doors to its first visitors on Friday. It is going to be the 23rd and the most important centre operating in Poland under the American Spaces programme that is financed by the US Department of State.
About 50,000 people took part in over 700 various programme events across Poland last year.
American Centre Warsaw will coordinate activities undertaken in collaboration with six American Corners located in major Polish cities.
The Warsaw centre is one of 12 priority centres in Europe and it reflects the importance attached to Polish-American relations, according to Jonathan Henick of the US State Department.
The centre is going to be expanded in the coming years in order to accommodate larger-scale events, according to Christopher Midura, Public Affairs Counsellor at the US Embassy in Warsaw.
The centre offers US books, films and TV series as well as access to digital books and scientific journals. It also provides information on the United States and studying in the country. (PAP)
