After signing the act Duda said that the issue was and is treated very seriously.
The presidential draft, which President Andrzej Duda promised during his election campaign, was submitted to the Sejm for review in late November last year.
The bill was passed by the Sejm (lower house) in November and approved by the Senate in early December.
The law will come in force as of October 1, 2017.
Today the retirement age in Poland is 67 years for everyone, and has been raised gradually - it would have applied to all women in 2040 and men in 2020. (PAP)
