Poland’s Iga Swiatek won the Adelaide International tennis tournament in Australia beating Switzerland's Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-2 in the final match on Saturday.

The 19-year old rising tennis star claimed her second career title, following her 2020 victory at the French Open when she became the first Pole to lift a Grand Slam singles trophy.

She went into the tournament ranked world No. 18 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), but is set to climb to No. 15 when the rankings are updated on Monday. (PAP)
