The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had decided to facilitate its citizens in leaving Lebanon.

As the Israeli ground offensive in Lebanon intensifies, Poland has joined the list of countries pledging assistance to its citizens in fleeing the country. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Warsaw received a request to do so from the Poles based in Lebanon.

The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pawel Wronski, said on Tuesday that a meeting was held to discuss the situation in Lebanon. Warsaw has also ordered a reduction in its embassy employees in Beirut in the upcoming days, following the lead of other states.

"Departure (from Lebanon - PAP) is still possible because charter flights are still being conducted, although most airlines have already suspended connections to Lebanon," Wronski said, commenting on the situation. "We have carefully mapped out residents in Lebanon who have ties to Poland but are primarily Polish citizens," Wronski added.

Besides transporting Poles from war-threatened Lebanon, the ministry is actively engaged in coordinating humanitarian assistance for the country, with the most urgently required needs listed by Beirut. (PAP)
