Poland will build a new grain terminal at the Port of Gdansk in northern Poland by 2026, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced.

Speaking at the press briefing on Monday, Tusk said: "The most important thing is that the Polish state has its own grain terminal," and added that "this will allow for a fully controlled grain policy in crises.

"By 2026, we will be ready with the investment, which will allow us to feel more secure in that (grain policy - PAP) area," Tusk went on to say.

Arkadiusz Marchewka, a deputy infrastructure minister, said that the project will require PLN 0.5 billion (EUR 117 million) in investments, with the operational capacity planned at 2 million tons in 2026 and increase to 3 million tons in subsequent years. (PAP)
