Speaking to journalists on Wednesday morning, Sikorski also expressed his gratitude to both US presidential candidates for their kind words about Poland and confirmation of the Polish-American alliance.
The latest unofficial results of the US presidential elections indicate that the Republican candidate Trump is close to defeating his opponent, the Democrat's Kamala Harris, which would mean Trump's return to the White House after a break of four years.
"The American nation has made a decision that we respect. Poland's foreign policy, which relies on maintaining political contacts with the Democrats as well as the Republicans, has been validated," Sikorski told journalists.
He also said that Europe must urgently take more responsibility for its own security.
"With its spending on defence and migration policy decisions, Poland is doing what its allies will only begin to do," Sikorski said, adding that Poland's restored credibility among the members of the European Union and its good relations with the US will position it as a leader in the process of increasing the EU's resilience.
