Speaking at a briefing following the talks on Wednesday, Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna declared the government would take swift action to address the matter.
Following talks and the meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk later in the day, a designated team will provide a debriefing on Friday, summarising the decisions made.
According to Leszczyna, the government is set to implement short-term measures including educational campaigns and professional development courses, as well as long-term legislative changes related to improving curriculum standards.
Paramedics have appealed for harsher penalties for the attacks, which will also be reviewed.
The gathering was convened in response to an attack by an intoxicated patient in the eastern town of Siedlce on Saturday. A 57-year-old man called for an ambulance and then attacked two paramedics with a knife while they were providing him with medical assistance, police said. A 64-year-old paramedic was fatally stabbed while his colleague sustained injuries to the wrist. (PAP)
