Sikorski meets Singapore FM on Asia

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has begun his visit to Southeast Asian countries with a meeting with his Singapore counterpart, the foreign ministry reported on Monday.

Talks between Sikorski and Vivian Balakrishnan inaugurated his four-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in the security and economy fields. 

The ministers discussed global matters and the situation in Ukraine, the ministry wrote on the X platform. 

Sikorski also met with Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Han to speak about security in Europe, the Middle East, and the Indio-Pacific region and growing neo-colonial trends.

Later that day, the minister held a meeting with the Polish diaspora. He pointed out that this year marks the 55th anniversary of Poland-Singapore diplomatic relations. 

In the coming days, Sikorski will visit Malaysia and the Philippines. 

He will be accompanied by Deputy Defence Minister Pawel Zalewski and Deputy Agriculture Minister Michal Kolodziejczak. (PAP)
