Two firefighters die in line of duty in Poland

Two firefighters died at the scene of the fire in the western Polish city of Poznan, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said.

A fire and explosion occurred on the night from Saturday to Sunday in a tenement house on Kraszewskiego Street in Poznan. During the rescue operation, 11 firefighters were injured and two were missing. 

On Sunday at noon, Tusk wrote on the X platform that the two missing firefighters died at the scene. 

"Two firefighters died today during a firefighting operation in Poznan. Hail to their memory! They are the true heroes of our times," the post read. 

Tusk added that the families of the victims will be cared for by the state. (PAP)
