The US will remain involved in matters of Europe and Ukraine, regardless of the outcome of upcoming presidential election, speaker of the lower house of the Polish parliament has said.

Szymon Holownia reported on the meeting with international affairs experts from the Atlantic Council think-tank last week.

"The representatives of both political worlds spoke very clearly," he told PAP on Tuesday. According to him, the Atlantic Council specialists claimed that even in the face of potential conflict with Asia, America will stay committed to Europe and Ukraine.

"The European and Ukrainian scene will remain important to the US administration, irrespective of who will become president," he said.

Holownia also referred to the talks with House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner from the Republican party, who affirmed readiness for cooperation with Poland and expressed hope that it would be based not only on financial aspects but also on shared values.

The 2024 US presidential election is scheduled for November. The incumbent president, Joe Biden, a member of the Democratic Party, is running for re-election against his predecessor, the Republican candidate Donald Trump. (PAP)
