The survey authors suggested three combinations of candidates in the run-off vote: Karol Nawrocki of the nationalist-leaning Law and Justice (PiS) against Trzaskowski, Nawrocki against Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski (KO) and Trzaskowski against Szymon Holownia, lower house speaker and leader of the centre-right Third Way.
According to the survey, Trzaskowski would win the hypothetical second round of the elections with Nawrocki. The Warsaw mayor would obtain 55.8 percent of the vote, with Nawrocki taking 37.6 percent.
The opposition voters (PiS and the far-right Konfederacja) would almost unanimously back the PiS candidate, with 94 percent voting for him. Trzaskowski would receive 91 percent of votes from the currently ruling KO supporters. The Warsaw mayor would also gain backers classified as undecided, with the support of 87 percent of them [voters].
If the competing candidates were Sikorski against Nawrocki, the Civic Coalition candidate would emerge as the winner with 54.1 percent, while the PiS candidate could count on 37.6 percent.
However, if the contenders were Holownia against Trzaskowski, the Civic Coalition candidate would win with 51.6 percent of votes, against 29.5 percent for the Third Way leader.
The next presidential election in Poland is scheduled to take place in May 2025.
