Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, on Monday, appealed for any Polish citizens in Iran to leave the country straight away.

On Monday, Sikorski added a previous appeal, from August, to a post on the X platform calling on any remaining Poles not to stay in the Middle East: "There is a lot of unrest in the Middle East. We have contingency plans, also related to humanitarian aid. I appeal once again - if someone does not need to be in the Middle East, this is not the time to be there," the minister wrote.

Monday marks one year since the Palestinian terrorist organisation Hamas attacked Israel. On 7 October 2023, more than 1,200 people were killed and over 240 were kidnapped to the Gaza Strip. Israel responded first with a massive air attack, and then the Israeli military entered the Gaza Strip.

After a military operation in Gaza that lasted for several months, the main area of military clashes moved to Lebanon, where, for over a year, the terrorist organization, Hezbollah fired missiles into Israeli territory.

Last week Iran launched a barrage of nearly 200 ballistic missiles targeting Israel in retaliation for the deaths of prominent leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas, in addition to a senior commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Most of those missiles were intercepted and Israel vowed revenge. Iran has threatened another strike in response.

Recent months have seen a significant escalation of tension in the Middle East, leading to concerns over the possibility of a full-scale war.(PAP)
