Poland and Slovakia are expressing concerns over Russian activities in Ukraine, Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said after meeting his Slovak counterpart Miroslav Lajcak in Warsaw on Monday.
The two countries agreed to support Ukraine in the implementation of its reforms, Czaputowicz added during a joint press conference.
Minister Czaputowicz stressed that Poland and Slovakia have worked out a sound base for multi-dimensional cooperation and referred to their recent regular meetings held at the presidential and government levels. The minister said that apart from political contacts, the two countries continue to develop economic cooperation and ties among local self-governments. The value of last year's turnover reached almost EUR 10 billion, noted the minister.
Minister Lajcak noted the friendly Polish-Slovak relations and the role of cooperation of the Visegrad Group countries.
The Polish FM said that both countries share a similar approach towards cooperation inside the EU within the Visegrad Group and stressed the need for working out a similar view on key issues in the EU's current agenda, including migration policy and the multi-annual financial framework. "We are hoping for constructive cooperation with the European Commission," said Czaputowicz.
The Slovak FM said that the two also mentioned a joint Polish-US initiative, the so called Warsaw process launched in Warsaw in January during a Middle-East conference. "We are very glad that this initiative appeared and I hope that it will contribute to the improvement of security."
The two ministers also took part in the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Warsaw. Slovakia currently holds the presidency of the OSCE. (PAP)
