The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened its doors on Saturday and welcomed visitors to mark Foreign Service Day. The first group of guests was hosted by Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz.

Foreign Service Day was established in 2009 to commemorate the first official diplomatic cable of a reborn Poland, which was dispatched by Jozef Pilsudski on November 16, 1918, to notify world leaders of the restoration of the independent Polish State.

Minister Czaputowicz showed the group around, having presented his office, reception halls as well as the Jerzy Giedroyc hall, where the visitors had the opportunity to see original documents of Poland joining the EU and NATO. He also invited his quests to another Foreign Ministry building, where the Balkan countries (Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo) presented their tourist offer and cuisine.

The embassies of the Balkan states have organised the exhibition in connection with this year's Polish presidency of the Berlin Process, designed to integrate those countries with the EU.

The minister also showed the group around a special communication room for direct contact with 190 Polish diplomatic missions abroad. (PAP)
