The Constitutional Tribunal (TK) is hearing the new TK law based on legislation and procedure that are not in force. TK's acts issued this way are of "private nature", leader of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) Jaroslaw Kaczynski said on Wednesday.

According to the PiS chairman, today the Constitutional Tribunal is a political body whose constitutional function is indefinite. That is why there is a need for solutions that will ultimately make the tribunal subordinate to the constitution, Kaczynski told reporters.

A new law based on work by an expert team set up by the lower house speaker is being prepared, Kaczynski also said.

Poland's Constitutional Tribunal (TK) is set to announce its verdict on the constitutionality of a new law regulating its work on Thursday, following several motions for the law's review by opposition parties and the ombudsman. (PAP)
