Ikea posts double-digit growth in Poland

In the 2016 financial year Ikea's Polish stores reported sales of PLN 3.22 billion, a nearly 22-percent increase over the previous year, the company has announced. Ikea plans to open an e-store in Poland.

During this time, 28 million people visited nine Ikea stores in Poland.

"The year 2016 was very intensive for us. For the first time Polish Ikea stores posted sales exceeding PLN 3 billion," Ikea in Poland CEO Anna Pawlak-Kuliga was quoted as saying in a company statement.

Worldwide, in the 2016 financial year Ikea's sales totalled EUR 34.2 billion, up by 7.2 percent from the previous financial year. China, Poland, Canada and Australia are the fastest-growing markets for Ikea products.

The Ikea's financial year starts on Sept. 1 and ends on Aug. 31. (PAP)
