Poland is likely to unfreeze international air connections in early July and a relevant decision will be announced two weeks in advance, Deputy Infrastructure Minister Marcin Horala told broadcaster Radio Plus on Friday.

Poland's LOT national airline resumed some domestic flights on June 1. Flights are available from Warsaw to Krakow, Poznan, Rzeszow, Szczecin, Wroclaw and Zielona Gora, and from Krakow to Gdansk.

All LOT flights were suspended on March 10 owing to the coronavirus epidemic. On May 19, the carrier extended its suspension of international passenger flights until June 14.

Horala said that the exact date of resuming international air connections cannot be yet given, but described such a possibility at the beginning of July as "an accurate opinion."

According to him, the decision to unfreeze international flights depends on positive verification of the functioning of domestic flights, analysis of the epidemic situation in Poland and other countries as well as the issue of reciprocity and the abolition of border controls, among other factors.
