State Assets Minister Jacek Sasin, PM's Office Head Michal Dworczyk, Education Minister Dariusz Piontkowski and Deputy Climate Minister Jacek Ozdoba have all been sent to quarantine after MP Przemyslaw Czarnek tested positive for the coronavirus.

Czarnek was on a list of new ministers to have been appointed by President Andrzej Duda on Monday afternoon.

PM Mateusz Morawiecki reacting to Czarnek's infection, asked the president to change the date of the new government's swearing-in ceremony. The new ministers were to be appointed after weeks of negotiations of the three-party ruling United Right camp.

In tune with binding regulations, quarantine, directed by the State Sanitary Inspectorate, lasts 10 days. However, a sanitary inspector may cut short or extend the time of the quarantine.

Czarnek wrote on Monday morning that he visited a doctor after having a headache and was confirmed to be infected with coronavirus. The MP wrote he is feeling fine and appealed not to ignore any symptoms.

Over the past several days Poland saw record-high numbers of confirmed coronavirus infections. (PAP)
