The government wants the national vaccination programme to accelerate in the second quarter of the year so the mass vaccination of the bulk of the Polish population can start to take place.

Michal Dworczyk, who is also government commissioner for the National Vaccination Programme, told a press conference that on Monday registration started for people aged 65 and 66, and that from Tuesday people aged 60-64 could register.

"That will mean that from tomorrow we will be able to register everybody included in the first stage of the National Vaccination Programme," he said.

"That means that for the first time we will be able to see the end of the first stage on the horizon,” he continued, adding that the first stage should end in the second quarter.

"We hope that in the second quarter there will also be a major acceleration and we will be able to move on to the mass vaccination of the population," he said. (PAP)
