The outage of Microsoft operating systems did not pose a threat to Poland's security, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said.

A series of technical glitches impeded the functioning of airlines, banks and the stock exchange in London on Friday. The outage spread from the USA to Asia after Microsoft reported an outage of all their online services.

"Due to the global failure in Microsoft systems, I am being kept up-to-date by our services at a provincial and national level of all incidents resulting from the failure," Tusk wrote on the X platform. "So far they are of a limited nature and do not threaten national security."

Digitisation Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski announced earlier that Polish critical infrastructure systems were not entirely based on Microsoft systems. He added that, to date, no cases of failures in critical infrastructure systems have been reported.

Microsoft representative said that the firm is monitoring the situation and is trying to fix the problems as soon as possible while adding that the outage can impact every user trying to use the 365 services.

Later on Friday Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamsyz also commented on the issue, telling journalists that "all forces and services of the state are working to secure the critical infrastructure, this is an ongoing process."  (PAP)
