The Polish interior minister announced that a total of PLN 622.8 million (EUR 146 million) has already been mobilised to address the ongoing flood crisis.

During a cabinet meeting held on Saturday, ministers gathered to discuss the latest developments in the flood situation and review support mechanisms for those affected.

"The total funds mobilised by the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration for flood relief to date is PLN 622.8 million," Tomasz Siemoniak said.

In addition to the flood relief efforts, the government was set to deliberate amending the draft budget for 2025 and a draft strategy for managing the public finance sector's debt, due to the floods.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said before the meeting that a portion dedicated to the budget would be conducted in a closed session.

Poland has been battling floods in the southwest of the country for nearly two weeks, though the severity of the situation has decreased in recent days. Still, billions of euros will be needed to reconstruct the damaged homes, public buildings and infrastructure that high water has left in its wake. (PAP)
