There are strong signs that from the autumn Poland will experience an influx of Ukrainian citizens, according to Dariusz Marczynski, head of the department of civil protection and crisis management in the interior ministry.

"We have clear signals that there is a high possibility of an influx of Ukrainians to Poland during the autumn and winter seasons," Marczynski said in parliament on Wednesday.

"We need to be prepared for an increase in the number of these nationals," he added.

"The reason for this is Russian attacks on (Ukrainian-PAP) critical infrastructure, heating and transport systems, the effects of which are beginning to be gradually felt," he said. (PAP)
