Polish police will get an additional PLN 1 billion (EUR 233 mln) next year to invest in equipment, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said.

"Within next year's state budget, the police will receive an additional billion for its needs, including equipment, gear and logistics," Tusk said during a ceremony marking the official Police Day in Warsaw on Wednesday.

"The police must be well equipped," he added.

Tusk said that his decision followed talks with Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski, who "has pledged to execute it after consultation" with Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak. (PAP)
