The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it condemns Israel’s decision to limit humanitarian aid provided by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The Polish foreign ministry addressed the situation through a post on the X platform published on Tuesday.

"We're concerned about the decision to restrict @UNRWA's operations in delivering vital humanitarian aid to over 2.3 million Palestinians in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. We oppose this decision and expect humanitarian law to be respected and fully enforced," it wrote.

Israel has consistently expressed criticism towards the organisation's operations and declared its decision to restrict its activities on Monday.

The UNRWA employs around 30,000 staff members and 13,000 individuals are currently working in the Gaza Strip, the majority of whom are Palestinian. The agency's operations are primarily funded by foreign governments and focus on delivering education, healthcare, and social services. At present, the UNRWA is crucial in offering assistance to the war-torn Gaza Strip. (PAP)
