The Russian missile went about 1,000-2,000 metres into the Polish airspace near the town of Oserdow, Lubelskie province, eastern part of the country, early on Sunday. It was constantly monitored by the Polish military radar systems," Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz told reporters in Krakow, southern Poland, on Sunday morning.
The Operational Command of the Polish armed forces reported on the X platform that "on March 24, at 4:23am, there was a violation of the Polish airspace by one of the cruise missiles launched overnight by long-range aviation of the Russian Federation." It stayed there for 39 seconds.
"If there was any premise that the Russian missile, which had violated the Polish airspace, was directed at a target in Poland, it would be shot down," the minister said.
Kosiniak-Kamysz declared that all the top officials had been informed about the incident.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Polish Foreign Ministry announced that Poland would ask Russia for an explanation connected with another violation of the Polish airspace. (PAP)
