Poland will host joint military exercises of the Weimar Triangle countries in 2025, the Polish defence minister has said.

Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, after the meeting of the defence ministers of Poland, France and Germany on Monday, said that "three fundamental agreements" had been reached.

"Firstly, the joint German-French-Polish exercises on the territory of the Republic (of Poland - PAP) next year, the joint exercises in 2025 of our armed forces, the allies of the Weimar Triangle are becoming a reality," he said.

The second issue, he said, is the joint initiative to extend mobility activities.

According to him, France has now joined "the mobility initiative between Poland, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Kingdom of the Netherlands has been extended to include countries observing how Belgium and Luxembourg are increasing their potential through the declaration of France's accession to this initiative."

The third agreement concerns support for Ukraine. "Ukraine's western aspirations are as natural as they are possible and we support Ukraine's aspirations to join the EU, to join NATO," said Kosiniak-Kamysz.

"For this to be possible and real, Ukraine must succeed, it must be strong now, we must be successful against Russia. We will support it by donating equipment... We believe in a greater role for NATO and we count on a greater NATO role in the coordination process, the co-financing of actions in support of Ukraine." (PAP)
